35 Years of Giving

Annual Report, Layout Design and Art Direction.

Project summary

We designed the annual report as a gift for our annual report in July 2010. The main objective of the annual report was to celebrate 35 Years of Giving. This annual report provides a retrospective of our work highlighted in previous annual reports, along with a collage of the many people behind the efforts of The San Diego Foundation.

It was most gratifying to us that more than 1,600 people attended our 35th Anniversary Celebration to honor the generosity of our donors and volunteers, which enabled us to grant over $43 million last year.

Throughout the publication, we highlight the significant successes of the past fiscal year while also commemorating the milestones since 1975. We celebrate with our donors the successful year.

We kicked off our design journey by brainstorming a fun theme for the year! Throughout the year, we captured joyful moments with our non-profit partners, celebrated inspiring donor events, highlighted the achievements of scholarship recipients, and showcased our dedicated staff. We sifted through our collection of photos and picked the perfect one that truly tells our story, and our marketing director crafted some engaging text to go along with it.

After that, we dove into creating the main design layouts, which included the cover, a heartfelt letter from our CEO, program pages, exciting donor news, and both endowment and non-endowment sections. Every layout was thoughtfully planned and executed with care. Once we sent the annual report and all its components to the printer, I was there to oversee the pre-press process, ensuring everything went smoothly until the very end!
